Stæll & Sokkadís

Ransý told me in her blogg that it's possible that my foal of Sokkadís and Stæll will be born in Mai (I calculated middle of june)! I am very very excited and keep my fingers crossed that the birth will be easy for Sokkadís and that both - mother and foal - will be healthy and fine!!! Yesterday Jens followed Baga and me with his bike and he took some pictures and videos. I had not noticed before that Baga is rather slim now ;o) Unfortunately she always stopped if we arrived Jens and the camera so the videos are not very action-like ;o)

Next try in autumn

SSSól is eating a lot of hey in Ásgarður now. I will probably try again to export her in autumn but first I need a solution for the winter. Normally all the 7 horses live in one paddock during the winter but in this case I could not care about that SSSól gets enough hey. We will check what to do.

Now my main-problem is to find a mate for Baga who is living alone since ~ 2 weeks. Further I need to buy hey for her. Most likely do we need to drive about 100 km to buy good hey.
Our Trip to the North Sea was fine - photos will follow.

We are on a trip to the North Sea from today until Sunday. Maybe a chance to relax?

No flight!!!

No flight because SSSól is in bad condition!!!

Two days before

Two days before the flight: I had no bad emails in my mailbox this morning . I wrote a confirmation for the veterinary that I know about the condition of SSSól and probably he/she will let SSSól go. Today will be decided if I have a driver for Saturday!!!
Yesterday I joked about that I will be sick between Thursday (Birthday) and Saturday (SSSól) because Jens and one of my colleagues are with a bad cold. Today I woke up with a cold . I have no possibility to stay at home to mend because my colleague is in holidays and my boss flies to Switzerland today until tommorrow evening . But this evening I will be visited by my mom!!! We want to walk a little bit outside with Baga and later we will possibly visit Jens at the soccer field.

Addition: My driver is doing extra-work for that he is getting free time on Saturday. So I am with a driver now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Three days before

Three days before the flight: SSSól is rather skinny and small. Hulda is afraid about that the Vet. could stop the export. Icelandair put +100 EUR on the flight price and I am still without a driver for Saturday. I am wondering what can happen more the next days?

Flight on 26.04.08?

7 days before the new flight date: SSSól is with Hulda and eats a lot of hey in her own box . I have to clean the horse paddock today like every Saturday and later I will go for a riding-tour with Baga. Yesterday evening I took her without saddle and rode through the darkness. Only to relax. Peter, the boss of my horse-stable, worked on my horsehouse and built a box for my girls to sleep in. There will be a third horse on my paddock which should not stay inside during the night but Baga and SSSól should NOT eat grass during the night so they have to be in jail . If anybody wants to know more about summer-eczema, I can tell you.
Further Peter build a smaller fence in our big horse-fence that SSSól will be near to the other horses but she is secured. They will know each other better after some days and the first contact will not be so dangerous. If all horses know each other and can live together, the big horses will go into their summer-fields. I will wait for about 3-4 weeks until SSSól can be leaded on the halter easily and until she has eaten small parts of grass daily.
On the day as SSSól came to Hulda, Stóra-Baga moved to the South of Iceland (see her on the picture). Thank you for your help, Ransý & Hekla!

FLIGHT CANCELLED

Today I got this email from Icelandair: 

PLEAS BE INFORMED THAT THE FLIGHT IS CANCELLED THIS WEEKEND !!!
